In this film you will see both of the
surviving original Noah's Arks (one of which has since been demolished), one of the few
surviving Circle Swings and dark rides from as far back as 1904. Fun houses, once a staple
of every amusement park in the United States, are also featured. The film ventures deep
inside three of Britain's biggest fun houses, one of which has now been demolished.
Ever hear of the legendary Flying
Turns? They are gone, but you will ride it in its new incarnation in a British amusement
park. The Virginia Reel also lives on in a British park.
In addition to providing general
background information about the nine parks, and taking the viewer on a visual tour around
the parks, the film focuses in some of the best rides. Thirty-one signature attractions
are selected at each park and the film takes the viewer onto the rides so that they can
be experienced from the comfort of your armchair. The full list of featured rides is:
Pleasure Beach, Great Yarmouth
Joyland, Great Yarmouth
Alton Towers, Staffordshire
Gulliver's World, Warrington
Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Hiram Maxim's Flying Machines
The Greatest Show on Earth
Pepsi Max Big One
The video sleeve sums up the video
perfectly: "A trip to an amusement park in the UK is like stepping back in time
40+ years, a delightful, unforgettable experience you will never forget."
